SDIndependents.com created to fill News & Information Gap
SDIndependents was started in order to provide a news and a networking platform for persons registered non-partisan (Independent). I created SDIndependets after I realized that the San Diego media was almost universally beholden to the two major political parties, and that they wouldn't cover any news concerning Independent Voters or Independent candidates for office. Since, according to official registration stats, Independents make up almost 30% of the electorate, there is no justification for the media's refusal to cover all things Independent. Some polls indicate that the percentage of people who consider themselves to be 'Independents' could be much higher than the current numbers indicate, since most people haven't re-registered in years, and trends show that, if they did, many would swith from the Democratic Party or the GOP and re-register as Independent voters.
SDIndependents created to help SD Independents interact
As a current candidate for office, I would prefer that this site already existed and that it was run by someone else. However, nothing is happening in San Diego as far Independent-politics is concerned, and there doesn't seem to be any platform at all that would enable persons who are registered as Independents to interact, or plan action together, so I am starting this site to get things moving forward for Independent Voters and candidates.
Site will be an Information Clearinghouse for Independents
Media coverage and other information that would enable non-partisans to get involved in politics, on a meaningful level, does not currently exist; therefore, we will fill the gap with our own material, material submitted by readers, and links to genuine political reporting, when it appears in the SD media, or other relevant outlets.
No One from Democrat Party or GOP will control content here
This is not a site that features the creator's take on issues, or a place where you have to lean left or lean right to get involved. In fact, this site isn't really about issues at all, other than the one overriding issue that binds Independents; our desire to not be tied down by party ideology and partisan political organizations that are run by persons - who from all appearances - apparently care more about their party, then their community or country.
Each Independent who contributes material here, or who comments on something they find on these pages, will be expressing their own opinion, not the opinion of the site operator or anyone else for that matter. There aren't '10 principles to being an Independent' or any other restrictive covenants or beliefs you must hold to use this site or become an active contributor. People who want to preach to the choir, can find a site where Independent thought has been extinguished, and they can enjoy themselves there. This site is for Independent thought from Independent people, so everyone is bound to find material on this site that they may disagree with. If it was any other way, we wouldn't be Independents!
